Cavalcade, Subrosa, JH2M

Thank you to those who came out to Passim for the 2nd Annual Holiday Celebration of wintery songs in 7 part harmony! We were so sad to that Rose Polenzani was sick on the day of the show - but as she has pointed out - we are so set for next year! What a gorgeous sound those string players make - Natalie and Brittany and Lauren with cello and five string fiddles. Sarah Jarosz and Margaret Glaspy sang up a storm with me. I am so addicted to the music of this season - sacred and profane - and it's so fun to be developing this show for a long term run.

Somerville's seasonal display of holiday lights is in full swing. The tour trolleys go this Saturday Dec. 17th http://www.somervilleartscouncil.org/programs/illuminations/

But a journey along just about any street will provide glimpses of santas on roofs, full-on stables with life-size Mary/Joseph/Jesus/mangers, wise men, candy canes, sheep, reindeer, stars, balls, holy infants, sleighs, gingerbread peeps - strings of lights are everywhere. Delicious.

Two more shows for me: tomorrow night, THURS, DEC 15 JOHNNY D's it's Chandler Travis' Annual Xmas Cavalcade - a big benefit for the Somerville Homeless Coalition. I'll be singing duets with Chandler and playing the uke for Joy to the World and joining the Athol Singerth for a whole night of fab tunes. Liv Taylor, Jen D'Angora, Sean Wortis, Merrie Amsterburg, Ramona Silver, Carla Ryder, Greg Greenway, Alastair Moock - just some of the guest artists...

And next week - Rose's last SUBROSA of the year: THURS DEC 22, LIZARD - always an amazing line-up of musicians with Rose and her beautiful voice and quirky interviews of 'the stranger' at the center. We'll be doing lots of holiday songs and originals as always.

Those big Faith Soloway show's we put on 10 years ago now! are available on DVD. A Jesus Has Two Mommies dvd makes a great holiday gift :) Faith, Ian and Eric, the Smell My Productions crew screened JH2M for the cast last night. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. I think youtube videos of parts of the show are up as well -

cheers, J
